Book Burning in Chicago
A fire destroyed part of the LGBT section of a Chicago public library branch in Lakeview on Tuesday. It hasn’t officially been called a hate crime yet, but Chicago Pride is only days away, and the section was labeled with a big old “Gay.” A rep from Equality Illinois, however, laid the blame at another set of feet: “When the president of the United States uses his office to attack gay Americans and our families and when anti-gay extremists continue to spread hate toward gay and lesbian people is it any wonder that there are attacks on us, our institutions or on books about us?”
