NewFest is Best
Don’t forget the 18th annual NewFest kicks off tomorrow with a gala screening of Amy Sedaris’ new movie Strangers With Candy, though it looks like those $50 tickets are already gone (at least online). Might as well watch it when it hits theaters on June 28 and save your money for some of the movies that need your support, like For the Love of Dolly, a doc about obsessive Dolly Parton fans (are there any other kind?) (June 11 at 6 p.m.); Lesbian Pulp-O-Rama Goes to Sweden! about the lesbo comedy troupe on tour (June 9, 8 p.m.); or Sam Feder and Julie Hollar’s transman doc Boy I Am (June 10, 3:30 p.m., AMC Loews 34th St.). Most screenings are $12. Check the site for times, theater locations, and web ticket sales.
