The New York State Court of Appeals heard arguments this afternoon in four same-sex marriage lawsuits that could determine whether wedding bells will be ringing soon for gay couples in New York. Don’t get too excited: It’ll probably take them months to come up with a ruling. Just for comparison, New Jersey’s been waiting since since February and Washington State has been waiting since March of 2005. Any day now. But just on time, word comes that President Bush is going to take time out to hold a press conference next week announcing his support for the federal marriage amendment. Again. Wonder what Mary Cheney will call him?
