Inside Out Festival in Toronto

We wouldn’t have paid that much attention to this LGBT film festival since it’s in Toronto, and we’re, you know, not. But one of the screenings caught our eye. In an homage to the themes of Brokeback Mountain, the programmers offer this night of shorts for the ladies, entitled Beaver Valley. [Ed.: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of the Beaver, I shall fear no evil, only faithless girlfriends who’ll leave you for their “workout buddy”…] Scheduled for next Thursday, May 25 at 7:15 p.m., the night features eight shorts, including a Sergio Leone-style spaghetti western with a “rawhide-clad” butch on horseback and something called Ina Unt Ina that’s described thusly: “If Brokeback Mountain took place in an abandoned Club Med, played minimalist techno instead of country western and ditched the flannel for polyester, this is how the young lovers would frolic.” If you find yourself in Canada next week, you could certainly do worse.
