Lily Tomlin in Metro Weekly

We caught the Tribeca Film Festival’s outdoor screening of Nine to Five last night, and we’re currently crushing hard on Lily, Dolly, and Jane. So we count it as fate then that today we read Metro Weekly’s interview with Tomlin, who’ll be costarring in Robert Altman’s Prairie Home Companion this summer. In addition to revealing her eternal admiration for Altman, Tomlin talks about her 35-year relationship with Jane Wagner, who’s also her longtime collaborator. She says that Time magazine offered her the cover in 1975 if she would come out—she turned them down, of course, partly because she was offended that they wanted to make that big a deal, and partly, it seems, because it was 1975 and she knew it’d be a big deal. Read it here, and then read Go NYC’s equally great interview with her here. She’s the coolest lady in the room. (Via AfterEllen)
