Gay Marriage in Illinois
The conservative lobbying group, the Illinois Family Institute, has been racing through its petition drive to get an anti-gay marriage amendment on the state ballot in November. Why the rush, especially considering that Illinois already has a law defining marriage as boy-girl thing? The Chicago Tribune blog raises an intriguing point: what if all these groups are desperate to push marriage amendments through before people come around and realize that gay people getting hitched is not, in fact, the first sign of the apocolypse? Remember, in just over two years, opposition to gay marriage nationwide dropped from 63 percent to 51 percent. They’re already on the wrong side of history. The question is, how much damage will they do before they’re through? (Via DailyKos)
