While we were looking at the Illinois Family Institute’s website, we noticed they highlighted a quote from the Rick Garcia of Equality Illinois, a gay rights group, who said of amendment drive, “I’m anticipating three to four months of outrageous, disgusting anti-gay rhetoric and harassment.” The Illinois Family Institute’s response: “The rest of us just call it a debate.” We have a whole summer of this to look forward to. The Republicans are desperate to retain control of Congress, and one of their best get-out-the-vote tactics has always been reminding middle America of how scary gay people are. This is gonna get ugly.
