Religious Leaders Promise to Fight Gay Marriage

Because there’s nothing else important to worry about. Fifty prominent religious leaders, including a Benetton ad coalition of rabbis, Protestant ministers, Mormons, and Catholic cardinals, bishops and archbishops have signed a petition pledging their support for a consitutional amendment banning gay marriage. They promise to participate in get-out-the vote efforts among their congregants this November to vote for state-level gay marriage bans. (Though we can’t help wondering if this effort is less about gay marriage and more about getting out the vote for Republicans.) Among the supporters: the cardinals from L.A., Chicago, Boston, Baltimore, Washington, and our own Cardinal Egan of New York. (Via AmericaBlog)
