Two more reasons to heart Dolly Parton, who’s nominated for an Oscar for her song “Travelin’ Thru” from Transamerica:
Because of her huge gay following, she’s often the target of hate mail. She says, “Some people are blind or ignorant, and you can’t be that prejudiced and hateful and go through this world and still be happy. One thing about this movie is that I think art can change minds. It’s all right to be who you are.”
She’s thinking of putting “Travelin’ Thru” on a gospel album and cutting a dance club version. Which is just perfect in every possible way.
