L Word Fanisode Website Up
Who here’s been writing some steamy L Word fanfic? And how embarrassed are we that we just used the word “fanfic?” [Ed.: People in blog houses should not throw stones.] A while back we mentioned the show’s plan to launch a contest which would let fans contribute ideas for a special “fanisode” script. Well, the Fanisode website is now up and running. Starting Feb. 3, a writer for the show will post a weekly scene mission, such as, “Create a scene in which Shane and Carmen discuss moving in together.” Anyone can submit dialogue for the scene, which is then voted on in two separate rounds. And then there’s something about BuzzPoints and StarSliders and…maybe you should just read the site if you’re interested. As the rules say, “You don’t need a master’s in Shakespeare to write for the fanisode.” As opposed to the regular episodes—writing excerpts from Jenny’s novel is not for amateurs.

[…] We completely forgot about the L Word online fanisode contest. [Ed.: Probably because we didn’t care.] So we were surprised to hear that they’ve already crowned the grand-prize winner: Jan Naugle, an aspiring novelist from Colorado. Sounds like the alternate-universe plot has some additional lesbians named Cari and Sam, and more details on Dana, who’s magically alive now. Part of Naugle’s prize was an online writing session with Ilene Chaiken herself. We ask Naugle to tread carefully and think of her novel. […]
